tracert result interpretation

Go to solution

Folks, can anyone help to interpret my tracert results, or at least provide reassurance that everything's ok (this is the first time I've done one of these tests, and I really know what I'm looking for):

That looks very good.

The 8ms at line 2 shows you don't have interleaving (it would be around 15/16 or so if you did).

Also you don't have the extra stupid internal BT routing some of us have.

There are slightly high values at some of the intermediate points, such as the 61 on step 9.  This is probably because the intermediate nodes don't give high priority to tracert traffic, so it can take longer for the response to come.  Whenever you have higher values at one step followed by lower values at the next (as in steps 6/7), that shows that the server at the first step (6) is just slow to respond to tracert, but fine at passing on the traffic.

The final 12/13/12 for bbc is excellent and steady.

Thank you so much, sjpt! It's such a relief to know there's no interleaving on my line.

Many many thanks.
