BT Infinity - where can I get replacement faceplate?

After a lightning strike, my BT master socket doesn't fully work. I think I've narrowed it down to the new faceplate fitted when BT Infinity was installed.  It works for accessing web, but I can't make or receive calls. Or if I take the the faceplate out (so no web connection) and plug the front socket back in then the phone works.

Where can I buy a new one (preferably just the faceplate)?  No where on web seems to have them and BT call centres can not help.

Thanks in advance.

For the those who prefer pics... the bit that only partially works is the middle part of this:

Hi the vdsl face plate can only be obtained from bt as you have had a lightning strike affect your line you may be best advised to get bt to come out and check al the wiring in case there are any other problems

Re: BT Infinity - where can I get replacement faceplate?

BT want to charge £130 to send an engineer out, which as everything else seems to work fine seems rather steep (for a small piece of plastic/metal).

Any other ideas about where I can get one (as the BT Shop doesn't sell them and the BT call centre can not tell me either)...

Hi there,

In my experience, BT only charge the end user if the engineer attends your property and finds a fault outside of their remit, or that has been caused by negligence, EG your puppy chewing through cables, etc.

As the Infinity faceplate is effectively part of the BT network and you need this piece of equipment to maintain your service, the engineer should replace this item at no cost, under "wear and tear".

I hope this info helps. :smileyvery-happy:

If only! BT told me on the phone (two separate calls) I will be charged as it is inside my property and they've done a remote line check and the line is okay.

If no one knows where sells this faceplate, do the other (older) faceplates work on Infinity? Or is this special one needed?

Ouch! That is a pain! :smileysad: I don't know anywhere that sells the faceplates, but what I suggest might be another option is collar a friendly OpenReach engineer in the street and politely ask them if they have a spare faceplate. :smileyhappy: That's what I did, when the front section of my NTE5 stopped working. :smileysurprised:

I hope this info is useful. :smileyvery-happy:
