BT Wholesale speed test

Just a quick question regarding the above, I have found that if I repeat the test immediatly after running it the first time I get a noticeably higher download speed.

Is there a reason for this? Which speed reading should I work off? the first (lower) reading, or the second (higher) reading?

Thanks

Re: BT Wholesale speed test

The latter,

the speed decrease could be caused by say your Java/Flash plugins. the latter would still be an accurate result.

That said, remember that the BT Speedtester is inside the WAN, for a more true internet speed, you may also want to try sites likes speedtest.net or thinkbroadband.com

Pre-warning though, expect slower speeds! :smileyhappy:

Re: BT Wholesale speed test

In the past I have seen AV/Security software interfering with speed tests. What's the difference in speed between the two tests?

Re: BT Wholesale speed test

Just done two tests back to back :-

1)      D/L  50.02

         U/L    7.77

         Ping   36.00

2)     D/L  75.32

        U/L    8.05

        Ping  22.88

What do you think?

Re: BT Wholesale speed test

Do you have any security software running?

Do the tests at bbmax and speedtest.net also differ?
