I have raised a complaint a week ago with no response so far.
I switched on my Mobile phone in Turkey for 30 minutes and incurred a cost of £34+ ?
I did not send messages, texts or email during this short period and kept the mobile switched off for the remainder of the weeks holiday.
I consider this charge to be extortionate considering the amount of time switched on and the small amount of usage.
How can this cost be justified?
the cost of using data in turkey appears very high from BT prices so did you surf net or maybe your phone downloaded some updates for apps
this give idea of cost per mb Turkey is zone 3 and looks like 500p per mb
Yes maybe but literally on for 30 minutes
You appear to have been charged for about 7 MB of data. If you hadn't had the phone on for a while and had stuff waiting to download, it wouldn't take 30 seconds to download that, let alone 30 minutes. Unless you've made special arrangements for data at a reasonable price, you're in for a shock if you turn on your phone outside the EU without first ensuring that Data and/or Roaming is switched off.
Yep, you’ve learned a lesson the hard way there. Keep data roaming switched off outside the EU and stick to hotel WiFi!
This is why we should be aboe to set a ZERO for additonal (cap) spend - to avoid such a shock.
