I recently changed from O2 to BT for my mobile supplier

Go to solution

I have recently changed from O2 to BT for my mobile supplier.  I had my own iphone 5S and have now got a sim only deal.  When swapping over I took my old O2 number with me.  However my iphone is still showing my new BT number (which I technically no longer have) and when I text people it comes up with this number not my correct one.  I've tried everything to get this to change on my iphone but can't seem to correct this.  I've turned it off, removed SIM, signed in and out of itunes and I've run out of things to try.  Any suggestions please?  I'm not very technial so please keep it simple ha ha.

@Gwennie5  Thanks for posting and welcome to the community.

If you're putting a BT Mobile SIM into an iPhone, there's a chance that your iMessages will still be sent from the number that was previously in the phone.

Here's what to do.

iOS 8

  1. Go to Settings then Messages
  2. Turn iMessage off and wait 10 seconds
  3. Turn iMessage on
  4. This should update and activate iMessage

iOS 7 or earlier

  1. Go to Settings, Messages then Send & Receive
  2. Tap on the 'Apple ID' and sign out
  3. Turn iMessage off and wait 10 seconds
  4. Turn iMessage on
  5. This should update and activate iMessage
  6. Now sign into the Apple ID for iMessage, and try again

If the issue is still not fixed please contact Apple
