Just to let people know. My unlocked SIM free Galaxy S9 got volte today

I've had wifi calling for ages.

I just got the July security update for my XEU unlocked galaxy s9. And boom. Volte and wifi calling both work!

Yeah! Samsung must be including it in the unlocked firmware now.

If volte is working on stock handsets then that is brilliant news.

Could you possibly post your firmware version numbers, if you go to the keypad and type *#1234# it should list them?

Next question, does anyone have a BTU version with the update and if so does volte work (my understanding is BTU is direct from Samsung and XEU is via a reseller)?

Finally does anyone have an XEU or BTU S9 + with a similar update and again does that work?

Volte has been working great, also in some low signal areas where i'd drop to 3G, i've noticed it stay on 4G and when I check the bands the data works on the 800mhz spectrum 😄

Once again thanks for the reply and info.

Access to the 800mhz band is of interest to me too as some of the areas I visit are a bit rural.

According to Sammobile, firmware ending BRF8 and BRF7 is out for the S9+ inc BTU as well as XEU (but the S9 isn't listed yet) and hopefully it'll work in the same way.

Same thing is happening over at EE with non EE firmware 😉
