Mobile message

For the second time my father has tried calling someone and gets an automated message that he has used up all his allowances and to call an 0800 number. When he gets this voice message (it’s happened twice) he rings me - and gets through. I tell him just to ignore it as I can check his phone usage and there is no way he will ever use up his allowance! Anyone know why he gets these messages? Due to the current situation I cannot speak to anyone at BT about it and, as he’s elderly, he gets worked up about them. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
