SIM only downgrade losing U/L minutes and texts?

Trying to change my SIM only plan just now and have come across something that surely must be an error.

Currently the SIM is out of contract on this plan

Wishing to go to this plan which clearly states unlimited calls and texts

But the next page claims unlimited calls and texts are lost without paying £16.67 extra p/m

And blocks completing the order if the add-on is not selected

Can someone explain this to me if I'm missing something as otherwise it defeats the purpose of attempting to reduce monthly cost due to change of usage.

The calling plan it refers to is for your landline, you have the 'no limits' which gives you unlimited landline calls, so if you wanted to keep it then you have to pay, all BT sim only plans come with unlimited mins/texts unless you take a data only plan

Re: SIM only downgrade losing U/L minutes and texts?

Ah thanks well spotted, but its still a problem.

I'm effectively locked in to paying for a landline I never use due to wanting the fastest broadband available in my area (Fibre 250).

I'd happily lose the U/L landline minutes I never use, but there appears to be no way to do that allowing me to change SIM plan.

No you're not, the order journey is making you keep like for like on the calling plan, to avoid you racking up landline call charges, complete the order journey as normal, once done you can change the landline plan anytime you want.

In fact if you don't use the landline at all, ditch it and go broadband only, you will lose the ability to make/receive calls but you won't need a chargeable calling plan anymore.
