Would be grateful for some information and clarification as to the status of Wi-fi calling.
iPhone 6 plus supplied originally from EE and now working with BT family sim. Wi-fi calling previously possible at home with EE no problem. Since moving to BT, no Wi-fi calling possible despite up to date OS. Icon not displayed next to BT and Wi-fi connection symbols at top left of iPhone screen. Stonking Infinity 4 throughout the house courtesy of BT Whole Home.
Phoned BT customer services for help and was advised that Wi-fi calling is only available on phones supplied by BT, which is a real disncentive for anyone wanting to migrate with existing compatible phones.
Has anyone got any advice?
should try search and you would have found large thread https://community.bt.com/t5/BT-Mobile/Wifi-Calling/m-p/1638964#M4294%2Fjump-to%2Ffirst-unread-messag...
Having previously read quite a few posts on that thread I do remember that someone also posted about need to be a Bt phone but others posted they got wifi calling on non BT phones. Almost 1000 post is daunting to read through
In short it should work, can you confirm that you are trying to use an iPhone 5s or above that has been updated to iOS11.3 or above.
On the handset, if you have iOS 11.3 go to settings phone and enable Wi-fi calling.
The next thing to do, if you have the above is to speak to mobile chat and just ask them to confirm that your sim has fully migrated over for the service. Some sims were taking longer than others.
If it is and it’s still not working pop back here and we will see what we can do
iPhone 6 Plus 11.3.1
Started one chat, passed onto another, then a phonecall from 0800 3289393 then passed onto someone else and then disconnected after 15mins waiting.
Grrrrr technology is good when it works lol
few more questions and things for you to check ...
in settings under mobile data make sure Wi-fi calling is also switched on there
and can I ask was the phone from EE and is it unlocked?
Ok, it should work keep at mobile chat. Once we know it’s enabled we can try different things to get you up and working.
The sim/account needs to have background updates for the service to work. They were a short delay I’m hoping it’s as simple as that but if not we can do some checks
