Hello all. Help please. I am travelling Thailand, Malaysia , Bali and possibly Vietnam for about 8 weeks soon. It seems as if I should not use my phone with BT SIM. Will I be able to simply buy a SIM card at the airport and use that instead. My son seems to think the phone could be locked and I would need to get BT involved. I read of someone coming home it a £65 bill for answerphone messages!
Many thanks.
ian
Hi @Ian1642 The handset will probably be locked to BT if you got it as part of a mobile SIM & handset contract, but BT Mobile works abroad in most countries, with a few exceptions:
I wouldnt use BT Mobile for roaming outside Europe as they don't yet have a global roaming option or add on as part of a monthly plan and you risk running up a very large bill if abroad for any length of time.
This as i see it is the one area that BT need to change to be truely competitive with Vodafone in the global roaming market
