"service not activated on network"

Hi, Im having trouble sending texts since lunchtime today, keep getting a random "service not activated on network" error neatly everytime I try to text and on the odd occasion I'm getting a "number not formatted" error message. I've been using the same phone / SIM for a while now and this is the first time I've ever had these problems.

Could you by chance be attempting to send a photo, picture or video with your message AND MMS has not been enabled?

Apologies if this is not the case.

No afraid not, I thought it was MMS related as the first text that failed was rather long so it changed from SMS to MMS but I've sent pictures, videos, long messages, etc for a long time now with no issues so I'm a bit stumped as to why it's happening now all of a sudden.
