unable to activate a new SIM card

I have ordered a nano SIM card for my new phone, the old one is a micro card. Arrived ok, when I went to activate it, system told me that order not been completed. Phoning 150 for help, was told problem had to be sent to a faceless, nameless back office for support. Apparently, the order cannot be cancelled or modified. Only bt would have such a system. I was told I would have to be patient and wait for this group to get round to my problem, hopefully I was told should be within a week!

Anyone have a suggestion on what I can do?
