I'd certainly rather BT lowered it's prices than offered 'free' sports. They could cut BT Cloud, McAfee etc etc too, and just offer broadband.

They can afford to cut prices now they have signed up a deal with Virgin to share network traffic, even if Sky was to be cheaper than BT 80/20 (Which sky hardly offer to anyone) I'd not be tempted to swap knowing that sky's traffic is all being handles by virgin which is known to be awful service at the best of times.

You're referring to the backhaul deal which I think is a bit cheaper than others. It has nothing to do with the consumer side though.

Offset by increases for TV it appears. This is from a current Sky Offers page:

Re: BSkyB in broadband price war with BT over new sports offer

That's the bug bear in all this, Sky are going to cut their BB prices but increase their Sky TV prices by up to 10% ( I love those words "up to" I bet this up to 10% will be near 10%), So it look's like once again Sky are kicking their core customer base for those with Sky TV who does not have their BB. This should all be great for BT provided they get their act together and support more devices than Sky do.
I have to say Sky are really trying hard to get their TV customers to change over to them as I've had several emails lately telling me how great their BB packages are and the speed I can get on their unlimited deals, 2.2Mb D/L and 0.9Mb U/L or on their superfast fibre 40Mb D/L and 2Mb U/L, both sets of figures are way off my current 78Mb/18Mb lol
