BT Sport not working on Fire Stick or TV works fine on Apple Mac. (In uk)

Work this one out.

Installed BT Sport on samsung TV.
Logged in, to watch Moto GP
Sorry you are not able to watch this outside of the UK.
Error code LP205

Installed on to fire stick.
EXACTLY the same message.

Logged on to apple mac.
Works perfect.
So the IP address is not incorrectly geo tagged.
When checking my ip is in the uk, which is correct.

What goes?
Any ideas.

Hi @TheRidgeback did  you have a VPN enabled on your connection when you first tried to login on the TV and Fire stick?

Please can you try logging out of BT Sport on your Mac then try the TV again. Logging out and in again can force the app to recheck your geo location. Let me know if that helps?

Thanks

Neil

Uninstalling won't change anything here.

Is the Mac definitely connected to the same internet connection? Are you using anything on the Mac that could be redirecting your internet? E.g. an antivirus or security product?

All 3 services use the same back end and IP validation, so there's something different about the Mac.

I'm not at home just now, but I can check later this evening if you want to send me a DM with the BT ID you're using.

Re: BT Sport not working on Fire Stick or TV works fine on Apple Mac. (In uk)

Apple Mac, TV & Firestick are all on the same internet connection.

Technically,
TV is hard wired, Fire stick is wireless and apple mac is wired, but all go through the same router.
Apple mac has a firewall and antivirus.

I do run my own DNS server (pihole) for advert removal, but all three share the same DNS and are routed through this before it leaves the Router,

I did check the logs for each device individually and all of them were connecting to the same internet locations to request their connections, with the exception of the advert requests, which were blocked on ALL devices, all of the requested connections were accepted and were passed on.

The only restriction I have for the TV connection is I do block all the connections to samsung which did account for about 75% of the TV's traffic, I cant see this as the issue as neither the firestick and the Apple mac connect to any of the samsung tracking sites.

So all have the same IP address.
All requested connecions to the same web services for video ect. (for the BTSport part)

I wont be back home for a couple of weeks as im working away.
Hence the fire stick.

I'll have to try again when im back in the uk and do a more detailed packet sniff with wireshark and see if i can get to the bottom of this.

I only actually wanted to see Rossi's final race, which i got to see.
I dont normally have that much time when im working away to watch tv.

I'll have a bit more time to try and see what is happening later.

Cheers

Mac.

Could you please send me a DM with your BT ID @TheRidgeback ?  With that, I should then be able to tell you exactly why the 2 devices were blocked.
