BT has recently launched a brand new App service for TV customers. We thought it would be useful to include some more information about this here:
App Extra includes all of the features of the free BT TV App and you will also be able to:
Access it through your large screens, including Apple TV and Samsung Smart TV’s, and cast it through Chromecast.
Download and play content including your BT Store rentals and purchases
Register up to four devices
Apologies for any confusion caused around the price of BT TV App Extra. It costs £5 per month on a 30-day rolling contract and you will be able to buy it online from Friday or now from our call centres. In September, we will write to all customers affected by the recently announced price rise where you will be offered BT TV App Extra at zero cost. You will have a link to follow to have this discount applied and the £0 cost will last for as long as you have BT TV. Until then you will be charged £5 per month.
The BT TV App and App Extra allows all BT TV customers to:
Watch channels and on demand shows available as part of your BT subscription
Buy or rent content to watch on any device
Pick up where you left off from on any device with our 'Continue Watching' list
Download and play content offline
Sync lists across your devices including favourites, purchases, and rentals
Set up remote recordings
Watch on a large screen
How can you get the BT TV App?
New BT TV App customers can download it from the Apple App Store (iOS and tVOS users), Google Play Store (Android users) or Samsung TV
Existing TV App customers will get an automatic update if you have auto-updates switched on, on your device. If you don't have it switched on, you will see a message telling you that you need to upgrade to the latest version in order to use it. You can download it in the same way as a new customer from the app stores
