BT sport data usage

Go to solution

Hi,

I signed up for BT sport yesterday, and downloaded the app. I was about to watch the football when we had a power cut, so watched on my Galaxy s9 through EE since there was no broadband either. I set the app to mobile data, and clicked the recommended HD. I watched the match for 22 mins then got an EE message about blowing 4GB of data.

Now I knew it would blow some data, and I was happy with that. And I thought even with high def on a 1080p s9, it might be a few hundred MB while we waited for the power, but 4.2GB in 22 mins ?? Does anyone think that sounds right?

thanks

Dave

Anything that is fast moving, like action films and sport uses a higher bitrate, you're watching in 1080p as well, I'd expect at least 3GB so 4GB isn't surprising.

You could in future limit it to 720p, also factor in the audio bitrate, something like 2 channel stereo will use less data than 5.1.
