Re: Chromecast sound problem ADVERTS!

An update: we are able to reproduce this ourselves and are working with Google to find a fix.

Re: Chromecast sound problem ADVERTS!

An update for you:

  • Google have accepted the case and have someone working on it - when we know more about their fix we'll post an update here. We've seen them get some fixes out pretty quickly in the past - and this is easily reproduced which is massively helpful for them figuring out what's going in.
  • In the meantime we're disabling the 'digital ad insertion' for this weekend on Chromecast: for live events on the Sport Digital streams we substituate 'broadcast ads' i.e. the adverts in the normal TV channel output which are the same for all viewers, with digital equivalents which can be unique per viewer. If you have a white blob at the top-right of the picture during an advert it's broadcast ad, if you don't it's a 'digital' advert. Google appear to have changed something in their latest hardware/software which causes this sound problem when the substitution happens.

Re: Chromecast sound problem ADVERTS!

I have to say that the adverts are very well synced, normally with digital adverts I get the odd one cut off but they seem perfect times for the break between the broadcast, I had no idea I was seeing digital adverts but that’s explained another issue I was having which is  why are the lip sync on the adverts out of sync but the broadcast lip sync fine.

Re: Chromecast sound problem ADVERTS!

Has the change in the broadcast effected the frame rate as the picture looks like it did on chromecast before you added hd to the app
