There is nothing on Utility warehouse site about BT sport or any TV channels. They only do phone or broadband.

Are you sure your friend is not watching BT sport on SKY TV platform and just using Utility for his broadband.

This was offered to him by Bt after leaving Bt to go to utility warehouse and finding he couldn't get Bt sport anymore through his Bt box

That's not something I've heard of before.

How could BT ensure that the different provider's customers were using modem-routers that supported the necessary IGMP multicast and QoS technologies used by BT TV?
Would the other provider be counting all BT TV data usage against any monthly usage allowance?

Other than Sky and Virgin the only other provider to offer proper BT Sport TV is Plusnet as far as I know. They are owned by BT and use similar hardware.

Could the BT Sport with Utility Warehouse be because they are a BT Mobile customer so qualify for it that way? That doesn't work on a Youview box though, just via the app for mobiles/tablets.

"... and finding he couldn't get Bt sport anymore through his Bt box"

So how is he watching it then?
