Copper connection cut off

We are a business in Bethersden Kent which doesn't have fibre in our road

I am being urged to swop to a new agreement ready for when the copper lines are cut off.

I am worried we will be left with out our phone lines when this happens,   what is in place for customers such as us ?

Re: Copper connection cut off

Who is urging you to swop to a new agreement, if your provider isn’t BT (BT Consumer  or BT Business) , then BT have nothing to do with your supply ,and this or the Business forum isn’t the place for you to ask , however as a general rule , with the PSTN switch off coming along , if you have ‘regular’ telephony , so your phones are not delivered through your broadband, then you will need to make a change before Jan 2027 consumer and possibly much sooner than that , BT Consumer and AFAIK BT Business are contacting their customers about changing , which makes me suspect you aren’t a BT customer…it’s whoever you pay to supply service you should be speaking to .

Re: Copper connection cut off

Unfortunately we are with BT and they are saying we need to change now while prices are good.  If we don't we will get a 30 notice letter of switch,  but they won't be able to connect the new equipment in time and we could be left without anything for days / weeks

They agreed it wasn't good and they had us over a barrel

.

Re: Copper connection cut off

This is a BT Consumer forum so the ‘advice’ here is based around someone in a residential setting  , if you are a ‘proper’ BT Business customer ( and not a smaller business that uses a regular domestic  service for their business , plenty of smaller businesses seem to do this ) what BT Business do may be different to what the BT consumer division does  , so any advice here may be way off  , the business division and their forum would be better in that case .

Obviously your set up , switchboard , multi lines , extension numbers if you have them , are going to need more consideration than a phone moving from a socket on the wall to the socket on the router , I doubt wether they will arbitrarily switch your service to fibre without your consent , but may push for you to make the change sooner rather than later .
