As I said a couple of times, even before I log in from here or other premises, it always takes ~10 seconds for pages to load.  Until I posted this thread pages loaded used to load almost instantly.  Really strange.

How does the load and performance stats at the following link compare to what you see when monitoring the requests in your browser's
Developer Tools ? https://www.webpagetest.org/result/190113_38_71969d11ba8167680e6f9b13352ad6bd/

That settles the issue here, at least.
3.7 seconds response.
We had a major power outage here this morning, -2 outages in 30 mins -, and VDSL speeds not affected on recovery.
In that outage period I went on to 4g on the iphone 8 plus. From instinct, it was just the same response time.

Hi @pompey1898 Sorry it was not convenient for @NeilO to call today. He will not be in the office tomorrow but has asked me to let you know he will be in touch on Tuesday when he is back.

Cheers

Re: Forum pages slow to load

Hi @pompey1898 & @Ribblelancs,

Sorry for the delay in responding here and I am very sorry for what you are experiencing when accessing Community.

Its a strange one that just you two chaps are reporting this issue, I would imagine if this was an issue on the platform side of things it would be effecting far more members Smiley Surprised

Having said that I have raised a ticket to Lithium support and have asked them to investigate.  Hopefully they are able to pin point the issue but I figure this problem may be extremely hard to investigate given the inconsistency of the behaviour but perhaps there will be something in the logs.

We will update you once Lithium respond with an update.

Cheers

Sean

Re: Forum pages slow to load

That test result posted by @pompey1898 is a scream. A skinful of Whitstable Bay Pale and a PhD to anyone who can explain in less than thirty words how to interpret it.

Seems to me that these delays here and on other sites have been occurring ever since so many web pages became heavily reliant on content from elsewhere. It can also have the effect of causing what you're looking at to jump out of view as something (probably promotional or analytics junk) is inserted at the last moment. You can see it in the pop-up that appears bottom left while the loading is going on; ideally, it's too fast to read but occasionally an item will stick, causing a noticeable delay in getting the page fully loaded. Manna for the expert but irritating for us laymen who just want to see what we're looking for.

Re: Forum pages slow to load

Sorry, I did post this earlier, but its worth repeating.

Here is a list of sites that load, when you view a forum page.

https://community.bt.com46.19.168.101

https://www.lithiumstaging.bt.com46.19.168.248

https://resources.digital-cloud-uk.medallia.eu151.101.2.133

https://smetrics.bt.com63.140.41.102

https://s.salecycle.com52.222.233.116

https://i.salecycle.com54.171.33.212

https://britishtelecom.demdex.net52.17.226.250

https://d2oh4tlt9mrke9.cloudfront.net52.222.239.138

https://udc-neb.kampyle.com35.201.75.239

If any one of those is a bit slow, then it will affect the whole page.

I use Firefox with No-Script, and can stop many of those links from loading.

There seem to be too many PhD's around at the moment----or people riding on their backs!
The unpublished results I obtained, gave the impression that I'm much slower in loading Forum Pages than the origninal poster. Most of us can wait for 10 seconds, or 4.99 seconds in my case, without calling in for Terms and Conditions teams. However, if it's a consistent long slow process, then it needs investigation.

Strengthens credibility, perhaps.
