Scam Attempt

at 10:19 today (21/012/2018) I had a phone call on my landline from 01787 852025 from a male with an Indian or Pakistani type of accent. He stated he was from BT and there was a problem with my router, I smelt a rat immediately but decided to play along and keep him on line because whilst talking to me he hadn't got anyone else who might fall for it. He asked me to turn on computer which I did, he then asked me to get the run command up and type eventvwr but instead I typed it into Google and saw that as I suspected it is a scam to get control of your computer. I then asked him who was my ISP he said BT which is wrong. He then tried to give me a bogus account number and also put me onto his "supervisor" who tried to persuade me they were genuine. I kept stringng them along but after 17 minutes they hung up BEWARE!!!

Re: Scam Attempt

I had one just a few minutes ago. threatening to cut my broadband tomorrow. A 1471 revealed 017433*****. I have reported to BT. I sussed it and told him to go away!
