Unsolicited private message

I have just received a private message from Joy1.

Can a moderator please check this visitor out.

Is there a better way of bringing this to your attention.

Same here.  It appears that joy1 has just signed up in order to start spamming people's mailboxes.

Thank you all for your prompt action and replies.

While it is easy to report an inappropriate post, is there an easy mechanism for reporting a rogue user ?

Re: Unsolicited private message

Just use the same as you would to report inappropriate post but give details of rogue user.

Re: Unsolicited private message

You can "ignore" the user, and you will not get any more messages from them.

The problem I had was an inappropriate PM.  I did not see any of the posts.

The only way I could see of reporting the user was creating my own post and reporting that as inappropriate.

It looks to me that we need two enhancements similar to reporting inappropriate posts.

1. A mechanism for inappropriate PMs.

2. A mechanism for rogue users.

Ignoring the user solves the problem for myself but does not alert the community.

Re: Unsolicited private message

Hi Vofsanity2,

Thanks for the comments.  You are correct, we need something in place to report rogue users using the forum solely for PM'sing other members for whatever reason.  May I suggest, for the moment, to drop a PM to the mod on duty?  When the mods are on duty they will have PM's turned on.  My PM's are never turned off so please feel free to contact the mods or myself at anytime with concerns about unsolicited PM's you may have received.

I will raise this with Lithium to find out out if they have a solution to offer.  We remain vigilant with spammers and this will continue as there is no place for this on our community.  I appreciate everyone's help on this front so please feel free to contact us with any concerns.

Cheers

Sean
