For 10 years BT charged me for a BT Sports account which I already had as part of a 'bundle' for free.
This amounted to several thousand pounds.
I never asked for this account and it did not show online in "My Bt."
It was never referred to in any discussions we had over the years re. my account.
It was only discovered when I checked my Bank statement in Oct. 2022 (The payments started in 2014).
I cancelled immediately.
Unfortunately I allowed unwittingly, BT to cancel, at the same time,
my valuable BT broadband, with Free BT sports, and replace it with a chargeable separate BT sports.
I think this is probably Illegal.
BT were unhelpful throughout, denied any responsibility, but offered £218 in compensation

Yes, I should have checked sooner, but unless you check your Bank statements regularly,(I don't),
for products you don't know you have, and didn't order, its difficult.
The message is, check your BT payments as BT won't!

I was with a certain electricity supplier, who blasters their communications with cartoon characters. Bottom of every bill it says “Good to know: We review your direct debit regularly….blah blah”.
Well, they clearly didn’t from May’22 onward and, being a bit naughty, I just left it to them to see where it would go, as I watched the account slip into arrears. Christmas’24 I suddenly get a load of s**t about the account being £180 in arrears. Not a problem for me, (fortunately), I paid it off same day but you should have seen the stream of threats, sanctions and over inflated DDs I was threaten with all because they didn’t do their jobs properly.
Moral is, the country’s run on BS today and don’t trust any **bleep** to look after things except yourself.
