£50 Connection Fee

Could someone please shed some light on a pricing problem for me?

 

My Dad was charged £50 'Exchange Connection fee'.  What I don't understand is that he was still in his previous contract with BT Broadband, he called BT and said that the contract was drawing to an end and what could BT offer.  They advised that they couldn't do the same package, but offered a new 1 for 2 years.

 

If he hasn't had a break in time between these 2 BT contracts why has he been charged £50 when the service just continued.

 

Still on old fashoned internet with a D/L speed around 10 MBps

That does not seem correct.

I have asked a moderator to provide assistance, they will post an invite on this thread.
They are the only BT employees on this forum, and are based in the UK.

Thanks for sending over the details. I've called your dad and confirmed the charge was incorrect. I've credited that back to his account as requested.
