BEREAVEMENT BT ACCOUNT HOLDER & SUPERFAST FIBRE
Just looking for a few tips re the best way forward, perhaps from someone who has experienced a similar situation.
The BT broadband/landline contract is due for renewal very soon. The account is in my deceased husband’s name.
Would it be better to:
1. Keep the account and just change the ‘Account Holder’ details to mine, then set up a new BT contract as an existing customer?
2. Close the existing account and start afresh as a new BT customer?
3. Check out other providers?
Also, whilst checking Fibre availability, BT states that it is not available in my area. The service on the current contract claims to be for Superfast Fibre 1 Unlimited. Surely, we shouldn’t have been paying for Fibre if it’s not available or am I missing something?

it is possible that your cabinet is full and therefore fibre connections are not available and there is a waiting list. If this is the case then moving to another ISP you would lose your current connection and then join the waiting list
try entering your phone number and post results. This will show what is available to you

Another poster with a similar issue, found it best to cancel the contract, and start a new one in their name.
Thank you for your response Keith_Beddoe. I have looked at that page but concerned about taking the wrong route.
I will see if a moderator can offer more advice, they are usually very helpful in these circumstances.
They are quite busy, but they should post here, and normally take ownership of your issue.

Please accept my condolences for you loss. There are a couple of options I can offer. You can either keep the account in your name and I can check if there are any suitable deals for you or you can cancel the account completely. The latter will mean you'll be without service until you decide which route you want to take. You would also loose your telephone number. Whichever option you chose to go with I can help you.
