I am confused about the £20 tariff (right) above on BT Essentials. I understand the £20 offer was uncapped speed-wise. Why does it say the speed I am to be offered is 45-50Mbps whereas my uncapped rate is more that this (it is around 60Mbps currently on TalkTalk)?
Also the guaranteed speed is only 1Mbps above the lower tariff. £5 pcm for 1Mbps extra?
Solved! Go to Solution.
The speed is set by the SLT (Service Line Type) so the £15 offer is 40/10 which is up to 40 mbps down and 10 mbps upload, for an extra £5 you get the 80/20 SLT which is up to 80 mbps down and 20 mbps upload.
The actual speed you get depends on your line and is an estimate which BT typically underestimate now, under promise and over deliver, so you'll get the fastest your line supports.
Good news - thanks for clarifying.
(For others' info - Talktalk won't match BT Essentials on price for renewals. In fact, their retention people had never heard of the service).
