BT Halo 1 - Opt Out?

Hi There, 

I have recently received an email advising that I will automatically be upgraded to Halo 1. After looking into the benefits I do not think its the right plan for me so want to opt out as it would mean paying more. My question is (unable to reach anyone at BT due to the current situation) what will happen to my current plan if I opt out? Has anyone else opt'ed out?  I am out of contract on my current plan so have no restriction on leaving which I like the flexibility of, so if I choose opt out will it renew a contract.
