BT Privacy at home Billing Glitch

I got charged £1.75 for "free add on" ever since I renewed my BT broadband .
When I contacted customer services, all was told was "it's a technical error in billing system". When asked why customers were not informed by email, I was told BT don't do that.
Am I the only customer to have been affected?

You'll be automatically refunded on your next bill, you don't have to request it.

BT easily sends out millions of marketing emails and advisory SMS messages to its customers. They could easily have informed customers of a known issue, or posted a message on their web site. Instead they just kept quiet
