Re: Calls To Channel Islands

Go to solution

@ROWBOTG2 - at last , after a mere 25 calls from me to BT, 11 web chats , an official complaint, and a deadlock letter (as BT couldn't find the information!) - the tariff guide has been updated to include the cost of calls to the Channel Islands!

Go to page 6 of the 153 page document accessible here:

Re: Calls To Channel Islands

Wow thanks x , very grateful

I thought I was a stickler but you are in a different league , I gave up long ago.

AS a matter of interest , any idea what the rate is when calling a person on a mobile in the Channel Islands

I imagine Jersey to mainland UK is covered by Roam like Home but is a call out to Jersey part of your plan minutes ?

I have BT Mobile Unlimited for example

@ROWBOTG2 - yes, Channels Islands to UK from a BT Mobile uses Roam like home and so comes from your allowance. Calls from a BT Mobile from the UK to Channel Islands are outside your mobile plan.

Re: Calls To Channel Islands

@XRaySpeX - UK landline to CI mobile rates aren't in the guide.  No big surprise there. But hey, give BT another few months and you never know!

@xmarksthespot

Well thats bottomed it out even if BT cant

I can now confidently choose the most cost effective time to call my family in Jersey.

Maybe BT wont rush as its not in their interest for us all to have that info and many would not bother anyway !

Thankls again for your help and persistance

Re: Calls To Channel Islands

@ROWBOTG2 -

You're welcome.

BT should not be providing a service, and billing for it, without stipulating their prices. This is basic contract law of which they're falling foul, so BT continuing to not state the prices would be pretty foolish on many levels.

Just to reiterate, as per an earlier post of mine in this thread, a really good way to call the Channel Islands is NOT to use BT but to use a Tesco International calling card instead which can currently give you FREE calls AT ANY TIME.

Just to clarify, use their app not the calling card, as I think the card has a connection fee I believe.

Re: Calls To Channel Islands

@kkkk- yes, good clarification.

I personally use the app, and it saves a bit of faffing versus the card, and given I'm the only one in our household calling the Channel Islands.

As far as I am aware there is a 4p connection charge when using the card which doesn't apply to the app. Also some operators (but not BT if you are on a calling plan) may charge to dial the 0330 0010 252 number that's used to access the service. That said, card is still cheaper than using BT direct.
