Can I get old number back?

Go to solution

Dear Sirs

I had the same problem a year ago. I initially left Virgin to rejoin BT where my landline originated from several years previous. However I couldn't get the BT fibre line installed in time for my two week holiday abroad, and I ended up rejoining Virgin almost a month later. I did however lose my landline number in the process. I was initially promised by Virgin that I could retain my number, but after rejoining and waiting several months for the old number to be ported across, i was eventually told that in the three week intervening period of my service being down the number had been returned to BT and they / you were unable to release it. However i also spoke to openreach who said rather confusingly that virgin still had the number!

can you clarify this for me? the number is **Edited**

Thanks

Simon

Hi @simon69

Welcome to the Community and thanks for your post!

Sorry that you lost the number you had and that you have had so many problems getting the number back.  Whilst I can't promise that I'll be able to get the number back it'll do no harm double checking for you from here.

Hi @simon69

Thanks for taking the time to chat with me today.

I am really sorry for the confusion.  As your services aren't with BT Consumer there is no way for us to check the status of the number from here I'm afraid.  You will need to raise this directly with your service provider.

Cheers,

Robbie
