Cancelling BT Landline for elderly mother

I am trying to cancel my elderly mothers bt account as she is moving into a carehome. I do not have POA as yet, is there a way to do this without POA?

Welcome to this user forum for BT Retail phone and broadband customers.

Provided she can talk to BT and give you permission to speak to them, then you should be able to cancel it.

I will also ask a moderator to assist.

Thank you for answering question. My mother is in hospital at the moment and  going into care home from there,  would it be okay to do this over mobile phone as cannot do this on her landline.

Yes, that should be possible. She would have to answer some security questions to confirm her identity. If BT are happy with the answers, then she should be able to cancel the service herself, or give you permission.

If she has a mobile phone number contact shown on her account, the BT may sent a PIN number to it.

Make sure you know the phone number and account number. If you have a paper bill, that may also help, as it will have details on it that could be useful.

You need to call 0330 1234 150 and select billing, or possibly say "cancel"
