Change account manager

For some reason, possibly because we have a joint Bank Account, BT shows my wife as the account manager. I handle all finances and pay the bill, but I cannot find out how to make myself manager instead of her. Can anyone assist?

@Magistrate

The account holder cannot be changed, except under certain special conditions, which would not apply in your case.

The only way for you to become the account holder, would be for your wife to cancel her contract, and for you to open a new account in your name.

This would involve cancellation charges if she is still in a contract, and you could lose your phone number.

Re: Change account manager

But this seems strange as I was always the account holder and BT changed it for some reason. My wife does not have any input into any of our utilities. Could I do this by live chat?

Whose name is on the bill, they are the account holder, and that cannot be changed.

The bill payer can be someone different, whichever account the direct debit come from.

Live Chat would not be able to help with this issue.

You could wait until the contract ends, then take out a new contract in your name. There is no guarantee you would get the same connection speed, and you would lose your phone number. The only advantage may be, is a reduction in cost as you would be treated as a new customer.

Re: Change account manager

Good thinking! But I have just recently renewed early and changed to full fine.

The downside of that is that my existing handsets would not work without purchasing fire adapters, and my answer phone does not work as it now has BT Voicemail which callers do not like so they just hang up. They do not tell you this before you switch.
