Connection request that has terminated my line

I recently received an email from BT stating that a connection request had been placed for my home address. I contacted BT and they said they sorted it and terminated the request. Today my Internet has gone off and BT have said they cannot do anything except create a new account and request a line transfer. Can anyone help with what I should do?
