Contract about to expire, what happens next?

Hello, when our contract expires on the 26th of March we don't want to renew it, but just carry on as we are. I've now asked 3 other family members how they interpret the e-mail I've had from BT (see below), with different results!

The options shown are to renew at the same price, or upgrade. We just want to carry on with BT, but not have a contract. My interpretation of the e-mail is that we don't need to do anything, and we will stay connected.

Also, the syntax and punctuation of the e-mail suggest to me that this is a phishing/spam/fraudulent message. Sent from bt.athome@ecomm.bt.com

What do you think?

You can just leave it as it is but any discounts that you had will stop and you will pay full price for your package.

We've reported this to gmail as phishing due to the odd syntax and punctuation.

Also it said we have 'unlimited weekend calls' but in fact we currently have 'unlimited anytime calls'.

I copied the text of the e-mail in my first post, but can't see it now. Can anyone see it?

Hi @Radiant   You are not alone, I have ‘unlimited anytime calls’ (and it works) but ‘unlimited weekend calls’ is displayed everywhere. I believe the reason is ‘unlimited weekend calls’ is inclusive with my broadband package.

Re: Contract about to expire, what happens next?

Unlikely to be a phishing attempt, but as already stated if you come to the end of a minimum term and don’t commit to another minimum, you will simply start to pay ‘full price’ for whatever products you have, this obviously could see your monthly fee increase considerably, depending on what level of discounts you currently have, but it does keep your switching options open.

Re: Contract about to expire, what happens next?

Yes, unlimited weekend calls is included in the  broadband package. Anytime is an add on to the landline package.  I've now established that if I don't renew my package, the cost of Anytime will increase from £7.99 to £8.09. This took a mere 40 minutes on the phone to  BT to establish.

My IT specialist nephew was convinced the e-mail was phishing, as was I, due to the bizarre use of punctuation, and odd sentence construction.

Thanks for your reply!

I guess the odd sentence construction is deliberate.

Thanks again to for the replies.
