Contract ending - will I be charged cancellation fee

My contract ends on 20th Nov 2018, I have ordered virgin media and the engineer will come over on that exact same date to install and activate it. My number will be moved but I’m not sure if it will be on the date or a few days after. They said moving the number will automatically close my BT account. If it moves and cancels my bt on the 20th will I be charged an early cancellation fee?

if your contract  has been completed then you should not get any cancellation charges  however there may be a termination fee of I think £30 as you are moving to virgin and not another ISP using the openreach network

My contract end date is 20th nov 2018, virgin will be installed and activated on the 20th too. This won’t be a problem right?

The £31 cease charge is no longer applied, I think it was around 12 months ago, maybe a tad longer when it was removed.

That’s good to hear. So if anything is to be paid it’s just the cost of whatever’s left of my contract. Which on that date is basically just the last month?

@Mustafa_Islam I'm sorry for any confusion, if your moving on the same date as your contract finishes there should be no problem with cancellation fees.

When you placed your order with your new provider it would have generated an automatic email and letter from BT advising that we have received a request to take over your number and any cancellation fees if there were any would be detailed in that email. Have you received that yet?
