Debt passed to a collection agency

Hi

Due to the coronavirus pandemic and the chaos it had caused, I have forgotten to pay my bill. I believed a direct debit was set up but this proved not to be the case. 

The first I knew about this was when I went on the my tv this morning and the channel has been cut off. 

Upon logging into my account online I see that the debt has been passed on to a debt collection agency even though BT themselves have not contacted me to pay the bill. 

Is there any way that I can get this recalled from debt collection and pay my bill when I next get paid?
