Re: Digital voice and inclusive minutes - is it worth it?

Go to solution

OK thanks for clarifying. I do find the whole subject horribly confusing. I obviously didn't understand the difference between wifi calling and calling via an app such as Whats App.

My current mobile phone supports wifi calling but my current mobile phone carrier does not. Sigh. Hence using What's App for calls over the internet while at home.

So if we went with BT fibre would that mean that I could use the better broadband connection to make wifi calls?  On the assumption that I changed to a mobile provider that supported wifi calling. ..? But I'd still end up paying for a mobile provider (whoever) and fibre from BT  - we just might be inching closer to not having to pay for a landline as well...

Is that right?

as posted earlier many people and now selecting 'broadband only' and giving up making/receiving calls on home phone and using all the free time you have with your mobile provider. if your mobile provider allowed wifi calling then with poor mobile signal you can still make call using wifi calling

if your mobile supports it, then set the option to use 'call over wifi' then your mobile will connect via your broadband router. You can set the default to use wifi calling first or mobile calling. Only works with newer mobile phones.
