As I understand the PTSN network is being switched off, although this does not affect the last mile of copper, a lot of the exchanges and boxes are being changed over to fibre and those that are not are terminated with lines being physically moved to fibre.
From the picture it appears your local area box is not being upgraded thus as you are in London it it likely it will be replaced in the next year.
Stick to your ADSL copper line for as long as possible, it is not broken and works for you. The changeover is not properly planned and new solutions are being created and rolled out. Like with utility smart meters, better to wait till the end.
