I started a contract in March 2020 for 24 months for Superfast Fibre 1 Unlimited. I am now moving to a different area from a flat to a house. BT have said I need to start a new 24 month contract as the way the broadband is delivered to the flat is different to the house so they have tried to match me to a similar contract to what I currently have. I didn't want to start a new 24 month contract but was told I have to. I was told that I have a 14 day cooling off period when the new contract starts on 13th January that if I am not happy I will be able to cancel the contract without any charges.
I asked if it mattered that I am currently in a 24 month contract so technically does that still apply. I was told that as this contract is terminating and I am starting a new contract I would be able to cancel within 14 days without any cancellation charges. Is anyone able to confirm this as I cannot find it online. His word seemed legitimate but I would like this in writing.
Must admit I find is odd that BT would allow you to walk away from the remaining 15 months of your contract without charge when moving home
what is the difference in your existing broadband to what you will get in new home?
Thats what I thought too.
The existing broadband is Superfast Fibre 1 Unlimited with estimated download speed 50mbps and upload speed 10mbps. The new contract is for Fibre 1 with estimated download speed 46-50mbps and upload speed 8-9mbps for the same price I currently pay.
So from what you posted virtually a continuation of existing contract and about same speed for same price so can't see how you can cancel free
