However I do find it very petty from BT that they force customers to have a new 18 month commit just for what is really a minor change of contract terms.

Amen to that !   This I'm afraid is just one of the ways whereby you know you are dealing with a UK company......

Re: New Totally Unlimited usage

My Infinity was installed less than 2 weeks ago, so I asked about additional costs or conditions if I renew the contract but received a somewhat vague answer. They merely said the only condition would be a contract renewal... No specific mention of costs or the conditions of that new contract.

I paid for line rental 12 months in advance and I have no intention of being tricked into paying more by vaguely worded replies. BT should come out and publicly state the situation. Better still just make everybody's usage unlimited for the remainder of their existing contracts and save us all the hassle of renewal games.

Re: New Totally Unlimited usage

the line rental saver sum remaining will be credit to your bill. It seem that many ercontratcing are signing for 12 months like myself -it does tell you near the end of completing the order online (woudl be best if they set out the term simply from the start) I guesdt you could go to teh billing help and chat online with an agent that way you have the converation recorded as to what tehy ahve stated -so if there is an issue you simply cut and paste the conversation to BT Im guessing they would have to abide with what was stated by their employee?

Re: New Totally Unlimited usage

I remember being told the 12 month line rental was non refundable when I signed up with BT. I've written an email and hope to get a more complete answer but BT should definitely issue a statement clarifying the situation.

Re: New Totally Unlimited usage

Just changed my Infinity option 2 over to the new unlimited P2P option over the phone. Originally put through to India who then put me through to package and service alterations who are based in the U.K apparently.

No problems whatsoever getting it done, in fact my bill has dropped £2 per month and as I had 12 months remaining on my contract there was no extension to my contract period.

Re: New Totally Unlimited usage

I am waiting for a reply from BT to find out whether I need to start a new contract becasue my PTP is not limited at all at this moment and it is the weekend, infact it hasnt been limited for a week or so now but maybe that is just a coincedence?. I suppose the only way to be sure is to turn the equipment off and back on again now and see, if it does get limited now then it is a coincedence but if it is not then its all good!. 😉

Please click on white star to the left and say thanks if I have helped you at all!. 🙂 Thank you. Some handy links Copy & Paste:-

The limits are based on local demand, I often don't get limited due to low demand on my exchange.

From experience, I'd never renew online

(you can't negotiate when talking to a computer;))

Very true DS, I plan to phone them in the morning and ask for contract renewal keeping my current price deal😛

shouldn't that be (coughs) at a lower more competitive price....:D

What I'm still not exactly clear about is that if you upgrade, and recontract as an existing customer, do you pay new the price stated on the new package(s) available? Obviously I don't expect to get the 6 months free option.

I've NEVER paid the online price since joining BT:)

(back in the day, I even managed to get BTVision for what worked out to by half price for 12 months!:D)

At every renewal, I just ask to be put through to retentions - organ grinder and monkey;)

It may be worth just sitting this one out for a while, and wait until my existing contract expires in 3 month's time. May be a better chance of negotiating then.

It's a bit like the double glazing salesman telling you to order now - the price goes up next month! (not mentioning that he's going to be trampling all over your floor in the middle of winter).

We'll see what  the comments are on the Forums. Someone is already commenting about slow upload speeds. Others may also comment/complain. It's time to sit back and watch, rather than jump in, and those with Infinity have more of an advantage.

As mentioned in another post, I have MS Office 2013, which gives 20GB cloud storage. It has tried every way it can to get me into the clouds, ignoring the fact that it takes time to learn to use it properly (e.g., there's a good pdf editor included which saves a few pounds). Cloud is a low priority at the moment.

Re: New Totally Unlimited usage

I have just spoke to BT on the phone about the unlimited P2P option and as I thought this new package went into force for me about 2 weeks ago and I dont need to regrade my package, its in force now and has been for a good couple of weeks. So anyone who is on option 2 Infinity already now you do not need to start a new contract. They say BT Infinity is now the best broadband package available ever out of any provider and they will back that statement up 100%. 🙂 go BT!.
