New contract

I have a broadband in my house and now the guy who lived here he cancelled the internet... and now im new in this house and I want to continue the contract. What do I have to do?

You cannot continue the contract, you have to apply for service in your own name.

I understand but should I keep this old broadband in the house , cant I just start the contract straight in my name ?

What has been left behind, as it should normally be disconnected unless it a direct optical connection with an Openreach modem which is powered up?

You would still have to treat it as a new connection.

Yes the Openreach modem is powered up...

Then there is no modem installed, all you have is a master socket and no other equipment. You need to place an order for broadband, and BT will send you a BT Home hub which plugs into that master socket.
