Out of contract

I am due to renew my contract at the end of this month and receive this email from BT. If I renew my contract then I can pay 83.99 pounds for the same package I already have or if I don’t renew and leave it as it is I stay at 58.49. Not much of a new deal.

it seems a no brainier to me which I am going to opt for, but wanted to check if there was any downside of being out of contract.

Re: Out of contract

If you renew, you will get the hard sell trying to persuade you to add things you do not need, hence the higher price.

Also, if you have an analogue phone line, you will have to move to DV when you renew.

I have been out of contract for years, and pay £39.17 for my 10mb ADSL connection, and still get free weekend calls if I wanted to use my landline.

I keep getting offers to upgrade, but it would cost me a lot more, and would have to move onto DV right away. 10mbs is more that enough for the two of us, and I use extensive filtering to remove unwanted advertising (Pi-Hole).
