Problem with New Contract

I was given  NEW contract yesterday by BT even though my current contract is not due to run out until 16th July 2019. It was entered into on 15 January 2018 for 18 months with NO price rise due to the serious problems I had with BT prior to entering  a contract on 15th Jan 2018. Can anyone tell me why BT is going down this road as I have only been under contract for around 6 months. Thanks for your help.
