Royal Mail delivery stuck for 2 weeks

Go to solution

Hi team

I ordered a Full Fibre upgrade on Aug 12th, equipment was dispatched.
It has been sitting in Royal Mail Yorkshire DC since Aug 13th.
Openreach are coming to install on Sep 6th.
Please can you give Royal Mail a nudge, even in these strange times this is very odd for something you sent Tracked 48?

If I were you @bixbarton  I would be asking BT for another delivery to be sent, it looks like the original shipment has been lost/damaged.

That date/location is the last place it was scanned in - doesn't mean that is where it is.

Most likely ended up in the wrong place and is now doing a UK tour or may even have gone back to BT if the label is damaged.

Best order a new one.

The help pages for Tracked 48 say that if there is a problem the SENDER has to contact them, not the RECIPIENT.
But BT is saying I need to contact Royal Mail.

Does Tracked 48 mean 48 days now?

I would have thought that it's simple, your order is with BT, BT are contracting Openreach and Openreach need the equipment that BT should be sending. You shouldn't be chasing Royal Mail, persistence with BT is what's needed, as painful as it can sometimes be.

You have no contract with Royal Mail. The parcel or what ever is being sent belongs to the sender until it is delivered to the recipient.

If there is a problem with the delivery it is entirely up to the sender to sort it out and chase the delivery company and if need be send another order to their customer.

Well, surprise surprise.

After 20 minutes on hold, got through to Royal Mail.

They have no further information other than what the Tracked 48 site shows.

They suggest it has either been lost, or the label fell off and is again lost in the system or has been returned to BT.

They recommend BT send out a replacement delivery, and then chase up the lost delivery with Royal Mail...

...which of course begs the question - why didn't BT just do this when I queried it?
