Somebody wants to take over your phone line

Received a text message from BT saying someone wants to take over your line and to contact 0800 500 288 within the next 14 days otherwise my line will cease.

Contacted 150, nothing showing on the system BUT the 0800 number is a BT number for house moves. After a lengthy conversation all seemed okay until they asked if I wanted to upgrade my services. I asked if this is something BT are doing to get customers to ring and upgrade and a very nice gentleman said he would flag it up. Basically wasted 30mins but it may have also been a scam.

Re: Somebody wants to take over your phone line

@allifog1

Someone has made a mistake when they placed an order, and given your address by mistake.

You must call 0800 500 288 and prevent the takeover, otherwise you will lose your service.

The customer services on 150, do not always know about these incidents.

Hi 150 put me through to 288 & nothing showing so they have put a note on the system & escalated the call.
