Switch over time?

Go to solution

Getting Full fibre 100 installed tomorrow....was wondering will my present internet stay working up until the full fibre is installed? Have someone working from home (call centre operator) who needs to be connected online....was wondering if the disruption to service between switching from old service to new will be long?

Hi @dastardley and thanks for posting.

Usually you'll only be 'down' for the length of time the engineers are working to install the new fibre connection. My own was completed in under 2 hours.

Hope that helps.

Cheers

David

Thanks David, how many electric sockets does the fibre equipment need? My current openreach box only needs one.

2, one for the ONT (modem) and one for the Hub (router)

Oh, oh.....I only have one main socket available in the space I use, unless the can plug the router into the extension lead I use for my PC, TV, TVbox?

You would need one for the Openreach ONT and one for the BT Home Hub.

Re: Switch over time?

no reason why you cannot use the multi extension to plug in your router - not a problem
