T&C for terminating contract

Go to solution
A BT customer for land line since 1996 and broad band customer from 2009...
Lately have Super Fast 2 unlimited.
1.Present contract for broadband signed for in June 2017.
2.BT line rent paid in advance from end of April 2018 - will be up for renewal in April 2019.
BT between June 2017 and Oct 2018 has increased the fees for broadband and line rental and I am paying the increase.
(Though I had a contract that last until June 2019...It had made no difference)

I am paying at present £59.99 for my services. This includes
1.Line Rental
2.Free Week End calls
3.Unlimited Super Fast 2 broadband speed up to 72 MBS.

I could get same services for much cheaper with some other ISPs...eg: one quote for £26.99..

My simple question
1.Can I leave BT to join a new ISP without having to pay any penalties?

2.Why BT cannot match this offer so that I could continue with BT without a need to look for an alternatives provider
I am sorry people keep asking the same question in here....very sorry

3.Do I need to get a "Migration Code" from BT.

But I wonder if I could just join a new provider to get a better tariff to save some money?

I very much appreciate your time for suggestions and answers.
Thanking you

To move provider, you simply place an order with a new provider, and they inform BT Retail.

You will be notified by BT Retail, of any cancellation charges if you are still in a contract.

Be aware however, that you will lose your existing fibre connection in the cabinet, and if the cabinet is full, then you would have to wait until Openreach provide more capacity.

You can check the status of the cabinet, using the this form
Broadband availability checker

If it says "waiting list", then you will not be able to get a connection with a new ISP.

Have you tried the BT Value team on 0800 800 030, to see what they can offer?

I spoke to someone today and he was not helpful I am afraid...
I am sad and disappointed in such that loyalty is not recognized.

Its the same for all providers, they offer lower prices to new customers. You should have been offered a good deal, but not as much as a new customer would get.

The choice is yours, but bear in mind what I said about the connection.

Hi @Salmonfish72  Sorry you did not get a good offer today when you called. Did you call the number suggested by @Keith_Beddoe  as they would be best placed to get you a good deal.

cheers
John
