Re: Unable to downgrade from BT Halo no matter who I have spoken to

Halo is a box that connects to your router. It contains an EE 4G sim. So when your internet goes down the router switches to  Halo and you have the internet via 4g.

Nice in theory terrible in practice.

I have had it for years (I was on the halo trial and I pointed out then it was flawed but they ignored me as apparently I was a minority) it didnt cost me any extra but I got it for the "free" FTTP upgrade.

Anyway in reality when the internet goes down it can take 30 mins for it to switch to the halo box, and when your internet comes back it often doesnt switch from 4g to normal broadband unless you switch off/on the router.

Its meant to be seamless.

Also on the front it has 3 lights, with 3 being strong 4g signal 1 being poor. I have 1 light and its like using a dial up modem (google kids if you dont know what it is). I discussed this with BT and I discovered by local mobile mast throttles EE 4G data only sims and there was nothing they could do because the mast wasnt owned by EE or BT.

I tested this out by buying a cheap EE data sim and a cheap O2 data sim and the EE data sim was throttled but the o2 data sim was full speed.
