I am having the same problem I try to dial out and internet shuts down and now I cannot dial out this has gone on for 1 month, the guy at bt fixed it from his end and now the same thing has happend again.
I will be contacting the director of BT next week and if it is not sorted I will go to the media

Try running a system test at your end using BT's self-diagnostic routine.
Tried no problem but bt fixed it over the net, the guy I spoke to was Indian but he was very bright but he fixed the problem from his end.
Now It has gone again I have ordered a new phone from Argos I want to go back to virgin.
In other words, he didn't fix it.
Intermittent faults are what they say intermittent. If it happens when it rains, that's the line. I've seen that on two BT lines.
It is either equipment or the line. If the line is screwed, Virgin won't be an improvement.
