Hi can anybody tell me if i would notice the difference upgrading to bt's unlimited fibre plan for £20 from the current benefits £15 reduced package of Unlimited Fibre Essential Plan?im finding theres a lot of buffering if kids are playing games or watching youtube on a couple of devices at the same time.the download (30mb)and upload speeds(5mb) listed for us are the same on both packages.is the essential plan restricting the amount of devices that can run at once?thanks
No restriction on devices on any package, you're simply sharing the available bandwidth. So if 30Mb is the best you can get, no point in upgrading. Might be worth putting your details into the broadband checker, just to see if 30Mb is the limit or if there's another issue.
Nice one thanks.yes thats pretty much the limit out in the sticks here, just wondered if the amount of devices accessing the fibre was being controlled/limited as its the basic package
Then you may need to look at replacing the BT Hub with a router with QoS (Quality of Service). That would allow you to prioritise network traffic to hopefully give your streaming priority over the kid's gaming. Although if you have Digital Voice you need to use the SH2.
30Mb should be enough for three HD streams simultaneously with room to spare. So maybe check if any devices are set to 4k/UHD & restrict them to HD. But with kids, they'll probably just change them back!
How is the main streaming device connected? If by WiFi it might be worth experimenting with ethernet in case the issue is actually patchy signal rather than bandwidth.
Thanks again think the sky q box is set to 4k so may try limiting that👍
